The 'Box Tops' were a Memphis rock group from the 1960s. They are considered a major blue-eyed soul group of the period. "The Letter" was a no.1 hit in 1967 for them and retained on the top for a total of four weeks. 'The Box Tops' sold more than one million copies of "The Letter" and received a gold disc. At only 1 min 58 sec, "The Letter" is one of the shortest songs to top the chart. Singer Alex Chilton was only 16 years old when recording "The Letter".
The letter I sent each student home with at the end of last school yea encouraging them to save over summer! It also included a collection sheet, a ziploc bag with a sticker on it that says "I'm saving box tops for St. Charles", a list of participating products and information on obtaining e-boxtops!

Centrale figuur was zanger Alex Chilton, die later bij Big Star ging spelen. De band is vooral bekend van de singles "The Letter" (1967), "Cry Like a Baby" (1968), en "Soul Deep" (1969).
I am so excited about our next box tops raffle. Before Christmas break the students will go home with the letter and custom collection sheets showing our new school logo. Each completed collection sheet = 1 raffle entry. The raffle items are lettered so the younger students can easily ID the item they would like to be entered to win. The raffle will run for 2 weeks in January! Good Luck my Box Tops Heroes- keep clipping!
