Chartreux - The Chartreux dates back to 16th-century France. Its thick, velvety coat is any shade of blue-gray, from ash to slate, with the tips lightly brushed with silver. The Chartreux's copper or gold eyes hint at its relation to the Russian Blue, whose eyes are a deep emerald green.
British Shorthair - The British Shorthair is a stocky, sturdy cat resembling a plush teddy bear. While blue is the color most associated with the breed (like the one pictured), British Shorthairs are found in a number of other coats and patterns as well.
The Chartreux, or also referred to as the Carthusians, is a French breed cat with blue-gray coat and amber eyes. It is believed due to their coat structure that the Chartreux originated in the mountains of Syria or the Rocky Mountains between Turkey and Iran.
