A company had been commissioned to make it for military rations in WWII - after the war the company went into more commercial production, helping their work force keep their war time jobs - by the early 50s Chef Boyardee and Campbell's Franco-American were really popular convenience food in the US -- but there were no SpaghettiOs yet - those didn't come until 1965!!!
