Cherokee, NC, I spent ten days there alone along the Ravenfork River. My cabin was ten feet from the gorgeous river, and I would build a fire and sit there at night just listening to the music of the river. It was a healing event in my life.
I never knew there was so much to see and do in the Smoky Mountains National Park. Plus right outside the park is the Cherokee Indian Reservation! There is so much to take in and most of it is free! Free open-air museums, free tours, free junior ranger program free hikes, and more. You won't believe some fo the animals we saw just driving through.
