Faux granite countertops! Kitchen Remodel for less than $50. I spray painted the back splash with silver. I used acrylic paint, a sea sponge, and sand glitter for the counters. I used Envirotex Lite for the final resin/epoxy coat. I used General Finishes Java Gel Stain for the cabinets. Very pleased! #granite #countertops
Removing Wood Grain Texture -How to get a nice smooth finish when painting cabinets or furniture that has a strong wood grain. Part 1 of a 2 part series on painting oak cabinets bought off of craigslist.
COFFEE TABLE UPDATE: Idea from an earlier pin...sand old wood furniture, do first coat of stain (following stain directions), lay lace on DRY stain and spray paint over the top (I used a metallic paint "Nickel" to give it some shine) then do the second coat of stain over the spray paint after it is dry. Don't forget to WIPE OFF stain after it has sat for a few minutes...restaining over a light color spray paint will make everything coordinate to the same color palette, clear coat and done!
UPDATE: We did this the first time without a clear coat of paint and many of the switch plates were chipping so we scuffed the switch plates again, painted them and sprayed a clear coat on top of them. Hopefully they will last now. DIY Oil Rubbed Bronze switch plates... Why spend all the extra money on new plates when you can paint existing plates? I hope this works.
