Tips on growing clematis--did you know they can't climb wooden trellises? They don't twine; they wrap, so any support thicker than 1/2 inch won't work. Use twine or trellis netting to give the illusion of climbing on your wooden trellis.
Clematis 'President' planted this year and possibly too early. Time will tell. Obtained from Van Zyverden. Update: Has grown 4 inches in spite of the cold weather we are having here. Doesn't seem to be bothered at all by the intense cold to hot switches. clb
