Ideas for Use: 1. Make copies of prompts. 2. Use in a writing center, with a whole class, small group, or individual. 3. Utilize as a conflict management tool or for high-interest response writing. 4. Allow students time to reflect and write. 5. Share responses as you deem appropriate. 6. Encourage positive friendship characteristics daily.
I am a middle school librarian and I love, love, love this idea! I am planning to do it for my school library this year! Some other settings we have come up with as well are: Walnut Grove, The Shire, Mordor, Wonderland, Westmore Middle School, Camp Green Lake, Fowl Manor, and Green Gables.
This link has five images of decorating ideas for the theme "Welcome to Camp Read S’more!" I especially like the faux fire (how cozy for cuddling up for reading!) and literacy lake. You could even have a word wall in the "literacy lake" to help expand middle school students' vocabulary! These images are from Benoist Farms Media Center Blog. Check them out!
