What Is a Corpus Luteum? How Does It Work? And What Can Go Wrong?
The female reproductive system is freakin' cool. That's all I'm saying. What is the corpus luteum, and how does it work? What is a corpus luteum cyst? What is corpus luteum deficiency? All the answers here.
Ovarian Cyst. Sacs on an ovary that contain fluid or semisolid material. They can develop at any time between puberty and menopause, even during pregnancy. Follicular cysts form when a follicle fails to release an ovum, and instead continues to enlarge and produce estrogen. Corpus luteum cysts form when the corpus luteum fails to degenerate - the cyst continues growing and produces progesterone. Theca-lutein cysts are often bilateral and filled with straw-colored fluid.
