Country Joe McDonald actually came on stage as per request to entertain somewhat while the next group was being set up. He came on solo and did an altered version of what was known as his "Fish Cheer" which had spelled out the word fish. During the festival however he switched it to "fuck", and has carried that as a moniker ever since!

Country Joe McDonald performs his big hit "I-feel-like-I'm-fixing- to-die-rag" (The Viet Nam song) live at Woodstock. He manages to get 300,000 people singing to stop the war in Viet Nam. This Woodstock Hero is still touring, now fighting against a new war in Iran. Visit his homepage for more music and info.

Country Joe McDonald and Janis Joplin, by Jim Marshall “Sexism killed her. Everybody wanted this sexy chick who sang really sexy and had a lot of energy … and people kept saying one of the things about her was that she was just ‘one of the guys’ … that’s a real sexist bullshit trip, ‘cause that was fuckin’ her head around … she was one of the women. She was a strong, groovy woman. Smart, you know? But she got fucked around.” - Country Joe on Janis
