USA's 'Covert Affairs' Canceled After Five Seasons. Sources tell THR that the renewal came down to a business decision, with the show's live-plus-same-day ratings ultimately being the deciding factor. In its heyday, Covert Affairs — produced by NBCUni's cable-focused Universal Cable Productions —regularly averaged 5 million total viewers in live-plus-same-day returns. Its recent fifth season hit a series low of 1.1 million viewers in November. ✔︎SamPage

Economics played a key role in the decision to end Covert Affairs. 2015 news

USA renews Covert Affairs for season four/....Seems like we go through men really fast on this show. First there was the brother-in-law, who I'll admit wasn't totally necessary, then Ben, Jay, Eyal, and those are just the top of my head guys. Can't we keep some good guys around for a while. Henry Wilcox needs to go. I never liked him in The Mentalist and don't like him any better in this show.
