Victorian ladies inside the Crystal Palace. The Crystal Palace is a metal and glass structure located in the Jardines del Retiro in Madrid (Spain). It was built in 1887 for the Exposition of the Philippines, held that year. It was inspired by the Crystal Palace, Paxton (U.K.).
SIR JOSEPH PAXTON (English) The Crystal Palace 1851, was a cast-iron and plate-glass building originally erected in Hyde Park, London, England, to house the Great Exhibition of 1851. More than 14,000 exhibitors from around the world gathered in the Palace's 990,000 square feet of exhibition space to display examples of the latest technology developed in the Industrial Revolution.
