A poster with a visual cue for each of the syllable division patterns vc/cv, vc/v, v/cv, cv/vc and vcccv When students are dividing syllables, it's a helpful to have a visual and auditory cue to guide them in finding the type of syllable division pattern (kitten word, camel word, tiger word, lion word, monster word) Great for Orton-Gillingham lessons, RTI, as classroom posters and for homeschoolers!
This is a wonderful multisensory syllable division activity. My students enjoy it and it is very effective in teaching syllable division pattern one (vc/cv). Your students will actually cut (with scissors) words into syllables! To prepare the lesson you simply print out the strips and cut them into individual words.
Syllable division of words is a key component to the word decoding process. As students advance into higher level reading material, the number of multi-syllable words increases, and it becomes necessary for students to have the skills to separate a word into its parts.Separating Syllables!
