Somewhere between 1956 and 2006 Union restored the primary emphasis in the threefold refrain, but with a strongly anti-establishment twist typical of the turbulent 70's: PROPHET, priest, and KING-CHALLENGER.
MORNING PRAYER O God, early in the morning I cry to you. Help me to pray And to concentrate my thoughts on you: I cannot do this alone. In me there is darkness, but with you there is light... ~a morning prayer by Deitrich Bonheoffer
Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945) was a German Lutheran pastor, theologian, dissident anti-Nazi, and the founding member of the Bekennende Kirche 'Confessional Church'. He strongly opposed euthanasia programs and the persecution of the Jews. He was arrested by the Gestapo in April 1943, kept prisoner for three years and executed by hanging in April of 1945, just 23 days before the German surrender.
