DIY Gate Tutorial by Dream Book Design

LOVE this baby gate! I wish I was handier! We are on our 3rd baby gate, and it's half broken:) #baby #kids #DIY

diy dog fence!!!! Have you ever priced extra wide baby gates? They are ridiculously expensive! This is great.

Build Your Own Baby Gate. This is great for the bottom of the stairs, or the top, if you used a more child-proof latch design. Maybe just putting the latch on the side the kids aren't supposed to be on would keep little fingers from opening this. I REALLY love how it looks--and it's really just a half door. Perfect.

WHERE has this been the last 5 years?!?!?!?! We've driven ourselves crazy trying to find a baby gate for our funky stairs and iron railing. I'm making one of these ASAP before Grey gets anymore mobile.

I had stairs with my first two boys and encourage to teach them not only to go up but to go safely down sliding backwards. Same concept as teaching them to swim if you have a pool. Also, I tought my boys to count in no time by counting with each step on a stair.

It's at the bottom of stairs. Just need to read the complete article sometimes peeps. And she never said she was suggesting that anyone else use this but that it works for them. I think it's worth a shot as we are a family on a budget and the gate that we would need would do some structural damage to our new home and is very expensive. Just need something temporarily until we can teach little one to not go on the stairs. I think this is a great idea!

Does not work for kids. 1 yo pulled the loops and command hooks right off the wall and the dog and kids just crawl underneath

Get creative with your containers. This living gate rolls open to let you in and rolls closed for privacy. The structure starts with a galvanized horse trough filled with soil and planted with arborvitaes. A wooden brace attached to an old piano dolly on the bottom allows the container to move with little effort.

I would use wood for the top and bottom rails and iron stair spindles in between. Might be a bit more expensive but still very customizable for size.

DIY dog gate...use for baby? maybe add ribbon on the edges to tie to the spindles, so toddlers can't slide it? @Clay
