Another fact is that adult dragonflies will devour just about anything they can catch. Dragonflies usually eat mosquitoes, bees, gnats, butterflies, termites, and other bugs. When they are in the nymph stage, they eat small fish, tadpoles, mosquito larvae, worms, and aquatic insects.
A couple years ago I had a summer of dragonflies. Every time I turned around there was a dragonfly about, sometimes more than one! This summer has been bereft of dragonflies, but one did show up yesterday, magically. A bright green beauty, sitting on the very edge of the front step, parallel with it, so odd! To say I am on the threshold of something I suppose!
