Norway -- tickets in early 1960s were 800.dollars per person. even for a baby. This is why many Norwegians who came to the USA after Hitler :*-(( - they were unable to return with family and spouse until money was saved. THEN you could buy a HOUSE for 11,000.00 -- so imagine a family of 5 going to Norway was close to 5,000. dollars. Lots of homesickness... and the reason community was so important.
