At 16 years young, US Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas made history this Summer when she became the first African-American woman to win the all-around gymnastics gold medal at the Olympics. Now with the help of Michelle Burford, she's written a memoir on her experience titled Grace, Gold, & Glory: My Leap of Faith.
Gabrielle "Gabby" Douglas - August 2, 2012 at the London Olympics won the individual GOLD MEDAL ranking her the #1 All Around World Olympic gymnast. She is the 1st black female to accomplish this dream. Proved to be the best in her sport - she maintained the lead throughout the competition for the United States Olympic Gymnastic Team.
Gabrielle Douglas became the first US gymnast to win both the individual all-around gold medal & the team gold in the same Olympics. The 16-year-old left her family in Virginia, to train in Des Moines, Iowa with the famous coach of Shawn Johnson, Liang Chow.

Gabrielle Christina Victoria "Gabby" Douglas is an American artistic gymnast. As a member of the U.S. Women's Gymnastics team at the 2012 Summer Olympics, she won gold medals in both the individual and team all-around competitions.
