Gothic / black-letter script evolved from Carolingian in the later middle ages, circa 1200 AD, became the dominant handwriting from the 12C until the Italian Renaissance (1400–1600 AD). It was not as clear as Carolingian, but was narrower, darker & denser. The dot above the i was added to differentiate it from the similar strokes of the n, m, & u. The u was created as separate from the v, which had been used for both sounds. Compact handwriting saved space, as parchment was expensive...

I slowly walk into the town. Upon seeing this sign I grimace. How would one not help a dead person? Maybe they aren't quite dead yet! Just as that thought comes to mind, I see a body. Ignoring the bombarding thought of 'Go report it.' I give the lifeless body CPR. At this point there's no chance of whoever this is of surviving. A car drives up from the city and I stand, pretending I did nothing. ((Open rp))

The last one actually has to do with soil and the possible stability of a ceiler, but these are still good ideas.
