I saw this at the Highland Place Bed and Breakfast in TN and didn't know what it was. What a cool plant!


Carpinus betulus (Hornbeam). Unequally toothed edge mid green leaves. A popular hedge can be seen trained and pleached. Tolerant of clay soils and polluted areas. Very useful tree even for a small garden.
