Dr. Mildred Jefferson | The HistoryMakers - Jefferson entered Harvard Medical School in 1947 after receiving a BA degree summa cum laude from historically black Texas College in Tyler, Texas and a MS degree from Tufts University. Jefferson became the first African American woman to graduate from Harvard Medical School in 1951. She was the first woman to be a surgical intern at Boston City Hospital and the first woman admitted to membership in the Boston Surgical Society. #BlackHistory #HBCU
