You can make this DIY poultry waterer to provide unfrozen water to your birds all winter. A bucket water, such as this one from Avian Aqua Miser, can be transformed into a heated chicken waterer with a few simple tools and supplies.
Chicken Waterer Heater - no more frozen water! Use an old cinder block that has a stepping stone on the top as a cover. Inside one cavity of the cinder block add a light bulb. The light bulb puts off just enough heat to keep the concrete block warm. The waterer then sits on top of the concrete and keeps it just warm enough not to freeze.
Automatic Heated Chicken Waterer 5 Gallon Nipple Gravity Watering 200-Watt 120V. This is on ebay. I pinned it for those of you who can 'eyeball' something then build it.. You know who your are! Smarty pant's.. :)
Heated Dog Bowl filled with sand up to about an inch from the top used as a base for chicken waterers. The warm sand keeps the water from freezing. Great idea and very economical. My chickens will be pleased!
