SS-Gruppenführer Hans Georg Otto Hermann Fegelein (30 October 1906 – 28 April 1945) was a General of the Waffen-SS in Nazi Germany. He was a member of Adolf Hitler's entourage and brother-in-law to Eva Braun through his marriage to her sister, Gretl. Units under his command on the Eastern Front were responsible for the deaths of over 17,000 Jews and other civilians during the Pripyat swamps punitive operation in the Byelorussian SSR in 1941. Fegelein was shot for desertion on 28 April 1945.
Hermann Fegelein (1906-1945) was a General of the Waffen-SS. He was a brother-in-law to Eva Braun through his marriage to her sister, Gretl, and thus part of Hitler's entourage. Units under his command on the Eastern Front were responsible for the deaths of over 17,000 civilians in 1941. He was shot for desertion on April 28, 1945. Historian William L. Shirer characterized him as cynical and disreputable, and Albert Speer called him "one of the most disgusting people in Hitler's circle".
December, 1944. Max on the left and the thoroughly repugnant Hermann Fegelein on the right. Albert Speer told Joachim Fest in 1969, “the most disgusting person to ever be in Hitler’s midst had to have been Fegelein.” Speer hated him worse than even Morell or Bormann. That’s saying plenty! Fegelein became Hitler’s de facto brother-in-law in June, 1944, when he married Gretl Braun, the sister of Eva Braun.
