The festival of Diwali is marked on the darkest new moon night of the Hindu calendar month of Kartik, falling between mid-October and mid-November each year.

The festival, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Bhaadrapada, starting on the shukla chaturthi The date usually falls between August and September. The festival usually lasts for 10 days, ending on Anant Chaturdashi

Swami Vivekananda Jayanti celebrates the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda’s birthday falls on the Paush Krishna Saptami, the 7th day after the full moon day in the Hindu month of Paush. Therefore the date varies from year to year. According to the English calendar or the generally used Indian Calendar, Swami Vivekananda was born on January 12, 1863. In 2017, the date of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda as per Hindu Lunar Calendar Tithi is on January 19.

Deepavali , popularly known as the "festival of lights," is a five-day Hindu festival.which starts on Dhanteras, celebrated on the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna paksha (dark fortnight) of the Hindu calendar month Ashwin and ends on Bhaubeej, celebrated on second lunar day of Shukla paksha (bright fortnight) of the Hindu calendar month Kartik. Dhanteras usually falls eighteen days after Dussehra. In the Gregorian calendar, Diwali falls between mid-October and mid-November.
