“I find empire line dresses are very ugly, so I did some research. Although the novel was published in 1813, Jane Austen wrote her first draft of “Pride and Prejudice”, then called “First Impressions”, around 1797. So we used the fashions of the earlier period, where the waist on dresses was lower and more flattering." Joe Wright, on the costumes for his 2005 version of "Pride and Prejudice"
I wore my P!@TD shirt today! I was doing stage crew after school and I was helping a girl with her costume; when I tucked my hair behind my ears, she saw my shirt. The girl (who I don't know) sort of gasped and said really fast "Panicatthedisco! I love them!" and we just exchanged this incredibly knowing, fangirly look. It was amazing. There is hope for humanity.
