October Sky: A Memoir | book by Homer H. Hickam. Originally called Rocket Boys, and the inspiration for the movie of the same name, this is a great book for your teen reader. I dreamed of making a curriculum where students learn machining, technical drawing, chemistry, risk analysis, trigonometry and calculus right along side the characters. And it has some great social-cultural history for this immigrant rich, post WWII, working class community.
