I love to study history and learn how it was back then, Jamestown Colony interests me a lot; probably because I discovered that my seventh grandfather was there in the 1600's , and he made into the history books, because, he was chosen to represent a group in the HOUSE of BURGESSES, whic was, I believe was the first legislative body in North America. His name was Roger Delk, sometimes spelled Delke, he was from England, and came to the Colony aboard one of Sir Walter Raleigh's ships.

After his arrival in Jamestown in 1619, Governor George Yeardley immediately gave notice that the Virginia colony would establish a legislative assembly. This assembly, the House of Burgesses, first met on July 30, 1619.
