Keeping garden tools, such as shovels and spades, clean and sharp makes your job as a gardener easier. Not only can you count on your shovel to cut through the soil, but it will also last longer if it is well maintained. Shovels left outside or put away wet and covered with soil develop a layer of rust on the blade. Removing the rust and treating the shovel blade with emollients to prevent further rusting restores you shovel to working condition.
