After learning of the Willard suitcases, Jon Crispin sought the museum’s permission to document each case and its contents.
This man was called Boxer. He was literally chained to his bed at a mental asylum at Cerne Voda. The asylum was a repurposed military hospital. The Mississippi State Insane Asylum at Whitfield, Mississippi, had remained large in my consciousness while growing up. Ever once in a while I would overhear someone saying, "They took him to Whitfield". Needless to say, you seldom heard about them coming back. No doubt the name is changed today to something like "The Mental Hygiene Center" or whatnot.
