The Last Supper, painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1495-1498, is one of the most famous paintings done on fresco. It depicts the scene of Jesus telling his twelve disciples that one of them will betray him. I like this painting becuase there are a ton of different symbols in this painting, such as the windows in the background that represents heaven.
The altar in the Basilica St. Giovanni Laterano. Above the altar is a plaque of the last supper and encased behind this is a piece of the table used for the last supper of Christ. It seems like everywhere you go in Italy someone has a small piece of this or that from back in ancient times. The place is just steeped in ancient history. It's hard to absorb when you come from a country as new as America. I Love Italy!!!
