Her body was found about eight hours after she was reported missing, in the basement of the family home, during a police search of the home. She had been struck on the head and strangled. Her parents were the main suspects. The case remains unsolved.

She also coated her trash bags with fish oil to deter people from going through her trash when the Ramseys were living with her and her husband, Glen. Susan & Glen were the last people to see JonBenet alive with her family on 12/25/96.
