Born on 7 June, 1972, in Wellington, Karl Urban had his first role at age 8, but did not act again until he had finished high school. He was on the iconic NZ series 'Shortland Street' during it's 1993-1994 season. Leaving university after one year to pursue his acting career, Karl has been in supporting roles in The Bourne Supremacy, The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, Reds, Dredd and is most known for playing Dr. 'Bones' McCoy in the new Star Trek franchise.
