After reading seven Louise Penny mysteries set in the province of Quebec, it seemed the right time to look for the tiny village of Three Pines, where murder, as one character says, is a cottage industry.
"The Beautiful Mystery" by Louise Penny. Inspector Gamache Book 8. Set in a cloistered monastery in the remote Quebec wilderness. Plot centers around the development of Gregorian chant and written music. Cool concept. However, all of Penny's other books have drawn interest from Anglo-French relations in Quebec. This one lacked that and some of the interest and humor it provides.
