A native wildflower to North America, there is around 70 species of columbine. Medicinally the petals have been used as an astringent and to sooth sore throats, however, the roots and seeds are poisonous. Anahita is usually depicted as a maiden in a golden cloak, pouring water from her holy pitcher. Her sacred animals are the dove and the peacock, and she was also the patroness of temple prostitutes.
