The Spartans have scored 228 points (45.6 avg.) through their first five games, the highest total through five games in school history. It marks just the third time in 118 seasons that Michigan State has produced more than 200 points in its first five games (1904: 208 points; and 2005: 227 points).
Under mostly cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper-30s, the Michigan State football team held its second scrimmage of spring practice Saturday in Spartan Stadium. Needing more than 26 points to come away with the victory, the offense defeated the defense, 28-26, as Nick Hill capped a 10-play, 75-yard drive with a 7-yard TD run with just over a minute remaining in the situational scrimmage that utilized a modified scoring system.
The Michigan State football team held its first jersey scrimmage of spring practice Friday afternoon 4.5.13 in Spartan Stadium. Utilizing a modified scoring system, the defense held off the offense, 25-23, in a situational scrimmage. Senior quarterback Andrew Maxwell led the way for the offense, completing 17-of-27 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns.
