It later became a venue for wrestling (as shown on the banner in this photo) and then became home to the #BBC Midlands television studios, before they relocated to Pebble Mill. Aston University purchased the building in 1971 and today (2013) it houses the European Bioenergy Research Institute (EBRI).

owa State’s Dan Gable takes on Northwestern’s Clyde Smith in the 150 lbs. finals of the 1970 Midlands. A much-anticipated rematch between Gable and Larry Owings, who handed Gable his lone collegiate loss coincidentally at McGaw Hall during the 1970 NCAA Championships, from the University of Washington was expected to happen in the finals of the 1970 Midlands, but NU’s Smith defeated Owings 6-3 in the quarterfinals. Gable won his fifth of six Midlands titles in 1970.
