Abigail Powers Fillmore (March 13, 1798 – March 30, 1853), wife of Millard Fillmore, was First Lady of the United States from 1850 to 1853

Millard Fillmore served as President Zachary Taylor's VP until the president died in office. He was the second VP to ascend to the Presidency in as many decades.

President Fillmore angered the North by signing the Compromise of 1850. It led Harriet Beecher Stowe to write "Unlce Tom's Cabin", a story of the horrors of injustice of slavery. The book turned any Americans against slavery once & for all. It lost Fillmore any chance of getting re-elected.
