1940s General Electric refrigerator, customized in 2009 "The base color is an off white with an orange pearl over the top. The center section has been flaked out and covered with a tangerine candy to match the trim color I used in my kitchen. Black and tan pinstriping was used to help define the raised center sections on the door and lower panel."
What appears to be a restored, vintage icebox is actually a three-sided cabinet of oak paneling built by the homeowner to conceal a modern refrigerator. The dishwasher, too, is hidden in cabinets. Photo by Bill Ticinito.
