I am so proud of this man. I am a white woman and I am not racist. I would vote for this man for president in the blink of an eye. He has character, morals, strength to stand alone if he has to but their are many who stand with him. I've said this because to me this election was nothing about race, it was about morals, character, and the heart life.
Republican Jefferson Franklin Long (1836-1901) was the first black from Georgia to serve in the US House of Representatives. Born into slavery, he became a merchant tailor. During his tenure in Congress Long gave one brief speech urging that body to keep in place the test-oath which disqualified thousands of ex-Confederates from voting. However, Long used this opportunity to denounce the KKK and other terrorist groups that attempted to suppress the black vote. His speech is on the link.
