The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation responded to Indian Point Nuclear Facility on Friday after receiving word of an oil leak. Of the 600 gallons of petroleum that leaked, most of it was contained to the facility and the oil that reached the discharge canal was collected by absorbent booms. See the article below for a video of the press conference and a statement by Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Among a flurry of last-minute votes in the NYS legislature was the passage of a bill that will ban the advertising of entire apartments on sites like Airbnb, fining anyone who does advertise such a unit up to $7,500. The bill, which passed through the state assembly and senate will now go before Governor Cuomo. A spokesperson for the governor said only that his office will review the legislation.
