'The Old Pottery' Sadler Teapot. James Sadler & Sons Ltd has been famous since 1882 for the manufacture of earthenware teapots. The first teapots made were known as 'brown bettys' which had a functional dark brown glaze. Between 1920-1950 many famous novelty teapots having to do with British heritage were made.These teapots are highly collectable. Sadler teapots have continued, but, in 2000 Sadler's grandson was forced to sell the company to Churchill China located in Cobridge.
