How to Refinish a Parquet Wood Floor

Perhaps one of the reasons parquet floors, which are composed of strips of wood that interlock in various patterns, are more common as features than entire floors is that savvy homeowners dread the prospect of sanding it. They are wary that conventional floor-sanding equipment, which includes drum sanders and edgers, can damage it by leaving cross-grain scratch marks. Those aggressive sanders aren't necessary for parquet, though. An orbital flooring sander works just as efficiently.
