Play Pennies

from The Measured Mom

Free money games for K-2

These counting coins activities are so versatile! For kids just learning to recognize coins all the way up to kids counting quarters, nickels, dimes, and pennies.

This freebie includes 45 cards to play the game war (also called compare.) Students will count the coins (quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies) on each card and determine who has the greater amount. This can easily be used in math centers, math tubs, small groups, guided math groups, choice time and for fast finishers.

Coin Top-It is a game from the Everyday Math Series for first grade. It is played like the traditional card game, War. Students flip over cards with coins on them (valued up to 16 cents) and determine which card has the highest value. The player with the highest value gets to keep both cards.
