This bride and her Marine Corps groom wanted their wedding to not only reflect their dedication to each other, but also to the Marines. The ceremony at South Shores Church in Monarch Beach opened with an entrance of the swordsmen and ended with a traditional Arch of Swords -- the Marines pledge of loyalty to the newlyweds. At the reception, the couple used the grooms Marmaluke sword to cut their wedding cake.
September 8, 1892 - The Pledge of Allegiance is first recited. The original text was, "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." The phrase "under God" was added in 1954 during the height of the Cold War.
