Lateral view of the cerebral cortex showing the principal gyri and sulci. Major structures include the central sulcus and the precentral (primary motor), premotor, and postcentral (primary somatosensory) gyri. Also note the gyri situated rostral to the premotor cortex, including the orbital gyri, which mediate higher order intellectual functions and contribute to the regulation of emotional behavior. Brocas motor speech area and Wernickes area (for reception of speech) are important areas…
Neuroanatomy : Brodmann areas, Broca's area, Wernicke's area, Area 17 - Primary visual cortex (V1), Area 1 - Primary Somatosensory Cortex, Area 4 - Primary Motor Cortex, Area 41 - Primary and Auditory Association Cortex, Area 6 - Premotor cortex
Working memory at work. The area around the dorsal anterior premotor cortex registered activity in MRI scans as subjects underwent experiments designed to test how the brain selects from working memory.
The intraparietal sulcus is an area of the brain behind the motor cortex, and in front of the visual cortex, it is responsible for visual-motor integration. The Dorsal premotor cortex is responsible for planning of complex actions.
