We have had promises instead of rules for the past few years. I like this but would change it to promises. PreK kids needs simple rules - no more than 5.

Give Me Five is a reminder that they use in my field placement school (Sam Houston Elementary) to get the students to quiet down and pay attention. I think it is a great and simple symbol that the students respond well to. As soon as the teachers say, "Give me five", or raise their hands, the students know exactly what is expected of them.
