Prokaryotes: Bacteria and Archaeans: Prokaryotic Cell Structure

Prokaryotic Cell - A prokaryotic cell is by definition a cell that lacks a membrane-bound nucleus.  In addition, they do not have other membrane-bound organelles such as the endoplasmic reticulum (smooth or rough) or the Golgi apparatus.  The DNA of the cell is free-floating, although recent research suggests the location within the cell is not random.
