The cruising scene also started to be replaced by the mall scene in the early 1980s. McCloskey marveled at how quickly things change. "I have a son that's in his 20s and he has a car, but gosh, you know, it's like a secondary thing," he said. "Many of his friends don't have cars, don't care to drive.
