Maple-Roasted Parsnips: I’ve always roasted honeyed parsnips alongside a turkey but as a marker of the culinary special relationship celebrated in this chapter, I’ve remodelled slightly, adding intensity of sweetness to the already sweet parsnips, not with honey but with maple syrup. And actually, this is more than a change, it’s an improvement: there is more ambiguity about the maple syrup, it’s a sweetness less cloying.

Oven-Roasted Parsnips from Food.com: My kids ate them - even the picky eater! (I shook the parsnips in a bag with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt and thyme - will not do thyme next time). Packed them in husband's lunch the next day - didn't know he wasn't eating french fries. A little sweeter than potatoes, but with more vitamins and fiber than taters. Slightly sweet and spiced to taste, these are a fun alternative to regular oven-baked french fries.
