As an actor, that meant not accepting stereotypical roles. It gave me the strength to turn down jobs that paid astronomical amounts. It also gave me the belief that God was preparing me for something much greater than the jobs I was turning down. The proof of the pudding was when I was cast in the role of Kunte Kinte in Roots. So I was well prepared to help offset a lot of the negative stereotypes that had been perpetrated by very insensitive people in the entertainment industry. - John Amos
