Russian poet Alexander Pushkin is considered by many to the the greatest Russian poet and the founder of modern Russian literature. Pushkin's great-grandfather, was Abram Petrovich Gannibal (1696–1781), a Black African page raised by Peter the Great.


Boris Pasternak (1890-1960) was a Russian poet and novelist whose epic Doctor Zhivago helped him win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1958.

Boris Pasternak, Russian poet and author of Dr Zhivago - one of my favorite films. I recently came across a book of poems he wrote as Yuri & they are most beautiful.
